Marketing is too often considered a luxury, and the first line item cut from the budget when the going gets tough. However, marketing is so crucial to your success! Sometimes you just have to be more creative with your resources. Here are some tips to do just that:
Have a powerful name, brand and slogan or tagline that describes the benefit of your product or service (for example: my tagline, “keeping your marketing goals in sight,” illustrates AimFire Marketing’s mission of connecting all marketing activities to your sales or business goals). Incorporate your branding and marketing slogan on your business cards, letterhead, brochure and website for everyone to see.
Use your website to educate your prospects on the benefits of working with you or purchasing your product. Add an online newsroom with articles and tips to showcase your industry expertise. Include customer success stories or testimonial quotes to encourage sales.
Start an eNewsletter as a way to regularly communicate with your prospects and customers. Make the content educational and entertaining rather than promotional, and let special offers or links back to your website do the selling for you. For $15 per month, you can send a professional, opt-in newsletter that is customized for your company (see the email marketing program I use here).
Get your name in the media by writing and submitting educational articles, case studies or newsworthy press releases to select media contacts (editors and reporters in all of your targeted industry or regional publications).
Get involved in industry and trade associations by attending networking events or offering to speak at conferences or monthly meetings. You may also want to exhibit or attend tradeshows or conferences in your industry as well as your customers’ industries for added exposure.
Remember: Marketing is costly – if you don’t implement it.
